HOW WE STARTED

Chamber Music Society Nigeria was founded on the 10th of April 2015, by three dedicated musicians, Seyi Ajibade (pianist),Segun Adetunji (Violist) and Ogooluwa Sobukola (Flutist). Since their attendance at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, they thought it would be useful to create a forum that replicate such idea, since there are so many young musicians who would love to be involved in playing music together. In February 2015, the first performance was held at the Mountain of Fire Miracle Ministries Glass House with a good number in attendance, which has grown over time. Musicians in CMSN were selected based on their interest and they were auditioned and selected, the minimum level of selected members was a Grade 5 level. More importantly, the society performs Bi-monthly concert which gives the musicians opportunity to prepare well enough for their performances. Each month there were always different themes to the concerts like African music, Schubertian Night, The Baroque January, Nigerian Art music etc.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

CMSN have made music accessible to the community, with good artistic display. We have also created opportunities for musicians to attend seminars and master classes with different Nigerian in Diaspora artists and societies such as the Akojopo Music Foundation, Mater class with Miracle Ogbor, French Master class for singers with Rev. Vincent Obi, Baroque singing with Soyemi Bunmi to mention a few. In the year 2021, CMSN retuned with focusing on many of her abandoned projects which are yet to be actualized, like supporting the schools that can’t afford music education, keeping up with the B-Monthly concert, and many more.
